The September Concert is being held in more cities than ever before this year, including two shows in Rome.

Now in its tenth year, this celebration of peace was prompted by the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and is held on the anniversary of that horrific event.

According to the organisers, more cities than ever are taking part in the project this year and gigs are set to take place from September 9th to 12th.

Led by three principles - freedom, equality and accessibility - The September Concert Foundation hopes to encourage venues of all sizes to host shows and see as many people as possible enjoy the songs performed.

In a statement, the group explained: "All concerts are produced by volunteers in our city, in our country and around the world, who believe in the power of music to bring people together, to reaffirm our hope for peace and to celebrate life and our universal humanity."

There will be two shows at Rome's Auditorium Parco della Musica, on September 11th and 12th, with both beginning at 21:00 local time. They are free of charge to attend.
