Evita is to be performed at Liverpool's Empire Theatre several times in June.
LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND, June 15, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Liverpool's Empire Theatre is staging a musical production of Evita, telling the story of Argentine icon Eva Peron.
The piece, written by Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Tim Rice, has won numerous awards during its time in the West End and will be performed in Liverpool from June 20th to 25th.
While the most famous song from Evita is undoubtedly Don't Cry For Me Argentina, the musical is packed full of catchy and emotional hits.
"The production begins with a young ambitious Eva and follows her rise to sainthood - telling the story of the enormous wealth and power she gained to become the beloved Evita," explained the organisers in a statement.
Maria Eva Duarte de Peron was the first lady of Argentina from 1946 to 1952 and received huge acclaim for her support of the country's lower classes.
Admission starts from GBP19.25 including booking fees and the performance lasts about 140 minutes with a 20-minute interval.
The musical begins at 19:30 BST every day and matinees at 14:30 take place on Wednesday and Saturday.
