Yale University's Whiffenpoofs are preparing to perform in Pattaya as part of a world tour this summer.

PATTAYA, THAILAND, June 29, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Pattaya is poised to stage a much-anticipated concert by The Whiffenpoofs, Yale University's celebrated a capella singing group.

The performers will take the stage on June 25th and bring their unique talents to the Thai destination's Siam Bayshore Resort & Spa.

Every year, 14 singers are chosen to take part in The Whiffenpoofs, which is the oldest and most famous collegiate a capella group.

It was established more than a century ago by five members of Yale Glee Club and even features its own signature tune called The Whiffenpoof Song, which has been covered by Bing Cosby, Elvis Presley and Louis Armstrong among others.

A statement on the group's website reads: "Founded in 1909, the 'Whiffs' began as a senior quartet that met for weekly concerts at Mory's Temple Bar, the famous Yale tavern. Today, the group has become one of Yale's most celebrated traditions."

2011's Whiffenpoofs are conducting a world tour over the summer, with the new class of singers due to take over in September.

The night begins at 19:30 local time, with canapes and one free drink included in the 500 baht (GBP10.10) ticket price.
