AsiaRooms.com - Get Carried Away with Bali Kite Festival
Bali Kite Festival is due to take place from July 22nd to 24th this year.
BALI, INDONESIA, June 22, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bali Kite Festival is a fun yet spiritual celebration scheduled to take place next month.
From July 22nd to 24th, travellers can expect to see plenty of enormous kites fill the skies around the Padang Galak area of Sanur Beach.
While it is fun to see so many airborne structures floating around, there is also a deeply religious centre to the three-day occasion.
Hindus use the kites to send a message to the gods to deliver a good harvest.
All sorts of models are displayed at the Bali Kite Festival, with a prize awarded for the most innovative entrant.
Attendees can expect to see three traditional styles take the skies: the fish-shaped Bebean, the bird-shaped Janggan and the Pecukan, which is made in the image of a leaf.
Many of the kites are huge and require a team of up to ten people to control them. It is not uncommon to see structures that are up to four metres wide and ten metres tall.
To add to the festivities, a gamelan orchestra plays throughout the event.
AsiaRooms.com offers a wide range of Bali hotels that may appeal to kite fanatics, including options such as the Jayakarta Bali.
