According to the organisers of the May 1st celebration, Morricone has created a song entitled Elegia per L'Italia specifically for the occasion that requires the services of 72 orchestra members and a 60-strong choir.
His composition has been put together to celebrate the 150th anniversary year of the unification of Italy.
