Seminyak is gearing up for the start of Kuta Karnival at the end of September.

SEMINYAK, INDONESIA, August 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The annual Kuta Karnival promises to bring a huge programme of activities to the island of Bali towards the end of next month.

Now in its eighth year, the event - which is due to take place between September 29th and October 3rd 2010 - is sure to be a major draw for tourists, including those staying in nearby Seminyak hotels.

Since the inaugural occasion, the festival has attracted thousands of locals and holidaymakers to the sandy beach at Kuta and has previously been recognised by local magazine Beat as being the best community event on the island.

Among the many items on the agenda at this year's Kuta Karnival are a kite festival, a competition which seeks to find Bali's best hotel bartender, martial arts displays, movie screenings and an exhibition of cartoons.

If that doesn't sound like enough reasons to visit, there will also be a sand sculpture and street art contest.

Kuta was one of the first parts of Bali to be developed into a tourist hotspot and remains a major draw for international travellers to this day, partly down to its popularity with the Australian surfing community.

It is made up of the various villages and resorts of Seminyak, Kuta Village, Legian, Kedonganan and Tuban.
