Westonbirt National Arboretum will play host to the Festival of the Tree next month.
COTSWOLDS, ENGLAND, July 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lovers of the great outdoors can get down to Westonbirt in the Cotswolds to celebrate Mother Nature's hard work at the Festival of the Tree.
The event takes place between August 23rd and 26th 2010, takes a swift break and then returns from August 27th to 30th at the National Arboretum.
A huge range of activities and displays have been planned to keep visitors entertained during the festival, including Sculptree, in which 11 sculptors from the UK will transform around 24 tonnes of wood into amazing artworks.
Designs have already been planned and the work will take place throughout the week, with the finished articles due to be auctioned off in order to raise money for non-profit body Tree Aid.
Laboratree is one attraction which could prove especially popular with youngsters. It gives attendees the opportunity to meet scientists and get up close and personal with bark and bugs by viewing them under microscopes.
A special trail through the arboretum will also be set up for kids, enabling them to discover the huge amount of wildlife which lives in the area.
Cotswold hotel guests will find the entry fee varies, depending on when they head to the site. Over the first four days, adults can get in for GBP8, with this price rising to GBP10 for the final four days.
Kids get in free throughout.
