A new exhibition about the preservation and movement of historical buildings is due to be displayed in the Florence Archaeological Museum next month.

Entitled Abu Simbel - The Rescue of the Temples, Man and Technology, it features installations relating to the relocation of a host of "colossal temples" in order to protect the monuments from submersion during the construction of the Aswan Dam almost 50 years ago, What's On When informs.
Opening in April, the exhibition is likely to be interesting, allowing visitors not only to view the temples themselves, but to also understand more about the processes used to preserve them.
The museum is open every day at varying times and entry costs EUR3 (GBP2.70), with concessionary rates also available.
As well as this temporary exhibition, the museum boasts archaeological finds from around the world, including bronze statues, vases and other artefacts from ancient Egypt and Greece.
One of the most notable pieces on display in the museum is the Idolino statue, a Greek work which depicts a young man undergoing training for the military.
There are also a host of artefacts from the Etruscan nation, including plaster casts and paintings.
